Jean-Christophe Vandevelde works on Pew’s ending overfishing in Northwestern Europe campaign in Brussels, where he works on advocacy and represents Pew in discussions with government leaders and stakeholders, particularly in France. He also coordinates Pew’s work with the European Union’s Advisory Councils, which are the regional stakeholder-led groups that discuss fisheries management issues.

Before coming to Pew, Vandevelde was scientific secretary at the French Foundation for Research on Biodiversity, biodiversity officer for an infrastructure company, and campaigner for a coalition of French environmental non-governmental organizations.

He holds an undergraduate degree in sociology and anthropology from Université libre de Bruxelles, a master’s in international development from the University of Louvain, Belgium, and a doctorate in geography and environmental planning from the University of Orléans, France.
